Ride of my Life

Mick Hagen’s ride of through life

The Prophet speaks on Sat/Sun.
If Moses, a prophet of God, were on the earth today, would you listen to what he had to say? Would you follow his counsel? Would you obey his instructions?

If you aren’t Christian than I don’t know what your answer would be. But if you’re Christian, then i’m assuming your answer is Yes. Of course you’d listen to God’s prophet. And of course you’d follow his counsel. After all, he’d be telling us exactly what God wants us to know.

People. I have some great news to share with you. Today, yes today…there is a living prophet on the earth. A Prophet of God. Someone who has the exact Authority that Moses had. He receives the instructions and teachings directly from God. He then transmits these teachings to us. What a great blessing that is for ALL of us! God’s mouthpiece is on the earth today. This Prophet’s name is Gordon B. Hinckley.

Saturday and Sunday (April 1st and 2nd), President Hinckley (along with the other apostles and leaders of the church) will be speaking to the world via satellite. And I’m inviting you to listen in on it! It’ll be broadcasted online. It’ll be at this link:

The times to listen in are the following:
Saturday, April 1, 2006: 12-2pm (eastern time), 4-6pm (eastern time)
Sunday, April 2, 2006: 12-2pm (eastern time), 4-6pm (eastern time)
And the two days will have all different speakers and different talks.

It’s called General Conference. It’s where members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from the entire world meet at meeting houses EVERYWHERE around the world to hear the leaders of the church speak (via satellite). It’s translated into dozens and dozens of languages allowing for ALL to understand.

On the right that’s a picture of President Hinckley getting the Presidental Medal of Freedom from President Bush.

From the beginning of time, God has always chosen prophets to teach His children the gospel and direct His Church on the earth. He chose prophets such as Noah, Abraham, Moses, and others. It’s God’s method of revealing His plan to us (Amos 3:7). It is no different today. We all need the same help in a confused and lost world. Because God loves us, He continues to send living prophets. Joseph Smith (1805–44) was the first prophet of our time. Gordon B. Hinckley is God’s chosen prophet today. I know this is true. And that’s exactly why i’m sharing this with you today. This weekend, God’s prophets and apostles will be speaking to the world! I figured you all should know about it!

Just as God led the Israelites out of slavery and to a better place through His prophet Moses, He leads His children today into happier, more peaceful lives when they choose to follow His living prophet. Follow what the Prophet has to say…and I promise you’ll live a happier and more fulfilling life!

COOL STORY>>>

The story is told of an event that happened in New York when President David O. McKay (one of the past prophets of the church) returned from a trip to Europe. “Arrangements had been made for pictures to be taken, but the regular photographer was unable to go, so in desperation the United Press picked their crime photographer—a man accustomed to the toughest type of work in New York. He went to the airport, stayed there two hours, and returned later from [the] dark room with a tremendous sheaf of pictures. He was supposed to take only two. His boss immediately chided him, ‘What in the world are you wasting time and all those photographic supplies for?’

“The photographer replied very curtly, saying he would gladly pay for the extra materials, and they could even dock him for the extra time he took. … Several hours later the vice-president called him to his office, wanting to learn what happened. The crime photographer said, ‘When I was a little boy, my mother used to read to me out of the Old Testament, and all my life I have wondered what a prophet of God must really look like. Well, today I found one.’ ”
(“Memories of a Prophet,” Improvement Era, Feb. 1970, 72.)

I’ve always enjoyed that story. Here’s a quote that explains the importance of prophets:

COOL QUOTE>>>
President John Taylor said, “We require a living tree—a living fountain—living intelligence, proceeding from the living priesthood in heaven, through the living priesthood on earth. … And from the time that Adam first received a communication from God, to the time that John, on the Isle of Patmos, received his communication, or Joseph Smith had the heavens opened to him, it always required new revelations, adapted to the peculiar circumstances in which the churches or individuals were placed. Adam’s revelation did not instruct Noah to build his ark; nor did Noah’s revelation tell Lot to forsake Sodom; nor did either of these speak of the departure of the children of Israel from Egypt. These all had revelations for themselves, and so had Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Jesus, Peter, Paul, John, and Joseph. And so must we, or we shall make a shipwreck.” (The Gospel Kingdom, [Deseret Book Co., 1944], p. 34.)
