So basically i’m back. My last consistent blogging was a little over a year ago. I made a couple updates here and there last Fall. But it’s pretty much been a year since i’ve blogged on a consistent basis.
I’m really not sure why I stopped. It just kinda happened. I got busy with Zinch stuff, marriage, holiday season, more Zinch stuff, etc. I think a big reason was because I was paranoid competitors would know what we were up to. I had the entrepreneurs paranoia.
As for Zinch, there really isn’t much to hide. We are the front-runners in the space. Ahead of the pack. People are chasing us. Everyone’s heard of us. Everyone’s watching us. It’s an interesting feeling.
No doubt, I still feel a little paranoia. Obviously I’m not gonna give up any secrets as for what we’re building, developing, etc. This blog will encompass everything though. Not just Zinch stuff. It’s more of a personal blog. I’m gonna share my learning experiences, my business travels, my family stuff, my thoughts/opinions about all sorts of web/tech news, etc. This blog is in no way supported, endorsed, or affiliated with Zinch the company. It’s my personal blog. The only association is that I am a founder of Zinch and I work there. However, the views expressed in this blog certainly do not necessarily reflect the views of Zinch. That needs to be very clear. This is Mick Hagen’s personal blog.
Anyway, here I go again. Blogging. I’ve been meaning to get back into it for awhile. The time feels right now. The stress/excitement from work and life has motivated me to get my blog up and running again. The blog is surprisingly extremely therapeutic. I know it sounds silly…but it is. So given where i’m at in my life and everything that’s going on….I’m happy and excited to get back into blogging.

As captain, co-founder and grand poo-bah of Princeton’s Varsity Blogging Team, I send my warmest wishes to all the freaks, geeks and weirdos out there who get their jollies out of my blog. Welcome to yet another school year of Mick’s Musings: my ghetto-fabulously strange blog.

This blog really isn’t much. Basically I just talk about my life, my adventures, and my thoughts. I like to tell stories. Some are romantic. Many are random. Others are nostalgic memories of my mischevious past. I talk about all sorts of silly things. And alot of the time, I use this blog as sort of an online journal. I share my life’s journey with the world. You’ll see me sad, mad, frustrated, stressed, motivated, hungry, and above all, happy. Most of my blog entries are light-hearted and silly. I like to have fun. If you’ll read some of my past blogs (earlier this year during school) then you’ll see that.
Anyway, before I can get started on my regular blogs, I definitely need to catch everyone up on what’s been going on during the last month. It’s been awhile since i’ve updated it. So let’s jump right in.

Things are going great with Rachel. I can’t live without her. I love her. She’s finishing things up at BYU this semester…soon enough we’ll be back on the East Coast, together. Recently I spent some time with her family, first in Boston and then in Arizona (that’s where the fam lives). Here are some pictures.

So that’s pretty much it for my love life. Rachel. She’s the coolest cat i’ve ever met, the last girl i’ll ever kiss. I’ll definitely keep you updated on what’s going on with us.

I still have my same old awesome friends. Now that i’m back in Utah, i’m mostly chillin’ with my homeboy Joe P. He’s been my best friend since 8th grade. We’ve been playing lots of tennis and ping pong these days….it’s been fun. Also, I wanna give a shout out to the Durrants…who I saw today. They’re family neighbors. The dad played in the NBA, is a stud, and is the Bishop of our Ward (for the non-mormons reading this blog, a ward is a congregation of church members who live in a set geographical location). They’re doing well. I also send mad props to other homies from home….Double D, Air Canada, Tay, Missão Recife, Mike D, and Alexito. There are many, many more.

My family is doing great. Everyone is healthy. Brad is my oldest bro. I’ll be starting up the company with him. He’s still looking for a girl. He’ll find one soon enough. Blake has a woman. He’ll be getting married in January sometime. Word. My little brother’s doing well. He’ll be taking some classes with BYU this semester. He’s really big on politics. Whenever I come home and talk smack about Bush, he throws it down on me and puts me in my place. I like to tease him. My parents are great. My mom says she’s writing a book. That’s nice. And my dad’s just chillin’ on his investments. So yeah…my family is doing well.

Well….things have been pretty crazy lately. Sorry I haven’t updated the blog in a few days. I promise i’ll be better.
So basically the last couple days have been completely centered on the brainstorming of our new business idea. We’ve had multiple meetings with many different people….seeking mostly advice, suggestions, feedback, and understanding. It’s been fun. We met with the athletic director here at Princeton, the head football coach, a high school guidance counselor at Princeton High School (the school is amazing….many go into Ivy League from there), and an ex-congressman who teaches high-tech entrepreneurship here at the University. Also, today one of our team members met with another admissions officer (I couldn’t make it). Aside from the many meetings, we’ve put in countless hours reading, learning, and brainstorming how we can make this venture fly high. Also yesterday, we went to a entrepreneurship conference. That was productive. We made some good contacts with some angel investors and VCs.
Other than the potential business opportunity…i’ve just been packing up, getting ready to go home. I shipped home almost a dozen boxes of clothes, books, tech equipment, and junk. Also i’ve had to box a bunch of stuff to store here on Princeton campus, like some of my small furniture stuff, my bike, mirror, filing cabinet, etc. I’ve had to finish any last minute business transactions with people (regarding web design, graphic design, photography, etc). I’ve had to run around collecting money from people who still owe me. That’s been the worst. I hate to be a bad guy….but some people still owe me. Sometimes being a butthead is necessary.
Well folks…it’s time to go home…back to Utah. My flight leaves at around noon tomorrow. My goal is to wake up super early, get a good work out in at the gym, finish the last minute errands, catch the train and go to the airport. I’ll be back in Provo at around 8 or 9pm perhaps. I’ll catch up with my family, find my homeboyz, and of course meet up with Rachel. I’m super excited.
As for the rest of the summer, the reality is that I really won’t spend a whole lot of time in Utah. I’ll probably come back for our potential business opportunity here (Princeton, NJ) to do my part in helping it grow and succeed. So for alot of July and most of August…I won’t be in Utah. I’ll most likely be here in New Jersey, and traveling around the east coast visiting colleges and high schools….doing what I need to be doing. I belive in it. And i’m gonna pay the price to make it succeed. Sacrifice brings blessings. That pertains to not only spiritual things….but to all things. I’m a firm believer in that.
So basically those are my summer plans. I’ll be in Utah for a bit. Whenever i’m in Utah i’ll spend alot of time with my friends and family…and i’ll be working hard to do freelance design & photography. And of course, i’ll be working on our start-up.
Well folks….time to move on to a next chapter in my life. Things are gonna really start to pick up as far as our business ideas go. And i’m really excited. If things progress to the point we are working for, well…then quite possibly I might take a semester or a year off from school. I’ve already taken 2 years off from school (because of my church mission). It’s very well possible that I take more off. I don’t know. Nothing is set in stone. But if we go at the pace we’re going now….I really think that we’ll need to dedicate ourselves full-time to the endeavor. To me it makes no sense to go half-heartedly into anything. 50% business and 50% school will mean that i’ll only be mediocre at them both. If we’re gonna give this venture a run for its money…then goodness gracious let’s give it a run for it’s money and go at it 100%. Let’s put in our all. Let’s give it all we got. Like I mentioned earlier….sacrifice brings blessings. Nothing valuable in life is easy. This is gonna be hard. And it really is gonna need my whole heart.
So we’ll see. I make no promises now. But my gut and my heart tell me that I’ll probably be taking alittle more time off from school. Quite frankly, I hope it gets to that point. It’s not because of the school factor. As a matter of fact I enjoy Princeton and I enjoy learning. However, it’s because of the business aspect. I’d only choose to take time off if our business ideas were showing a future…if it was growing at the targeted rate, if it was in need of more time/energy to match and equal the growth. That would be great. That would be a wonderful problem to have. And in a heartbeat, i’d be happy to jump on the wave full-time and see where it would take me. So who knows folks….we’ll have to see. But let’s just get one thing straight: I WILL GRADUATE! I enjoy Princeton and I would never let this great opportunity slip through my fingers. I’ll do it the right way and definitely make sure my foot stays in the door so I can finish. Princeton loves when kids do this kind of thing…taking time off to explore the real world and learn in a different way. All i’m saying is graduation might take just a little longer than 4 years (due to business ventures and so forth). The business education that i’m getting is so valuable. To me this is all part of my Princeton education.

Well….school is done. Today was Dean’s Date…all my final papers were due. I finished and now i’m free. Free at last. Hurrah for freedom!! The next two weeks are finals…but since I don’t have any finals….i’m the coolest cat ever. Word. Life is good…school’s out….I couldn’t be happier. I’ll stick around here (Princeton) until the 25th, working on a potential business idea with some buddies. Throughout the summer we’ll be meeting often (i’ll be coming out here to Princeton) and going to various b-plan competitions and conferences that pertain to our potential venture. Summer is gonna be a lot of fun. I’m really excited about the company we’re probably gonna start. Now that school’s out I can go full speed at attacking it and getting stuff done with it. I love the feeling of freedom. Though I enjoy learning, i’m ready for summer. I’m ready to do a different type of learning……learning how to start a successful company. It certainly won’t be the last company I help start. I was born an entrepreneur. And i’m gonna die an entrepreneur. That’s just the way the ball bounces…and I like it that way.
Many of you have been asking me about my “special friend,” Rachel…the one who was visiting Thailand during the last couple weeks. She’s returned…and is now in Utah. Many asked if she was my girlfriend. No. She’s not my girlfriend. It’s not quite to that point, yet. Simply because we aren’t with eachother right now. We talk to eachother on the phone quite a bit. We’ve hung out a bunch already during some of my breaks in school. We “like” eachother (whatever that means….ha). However, she’s still not my girlfriend. I’m single. She’s single. Life is grand. Though I must say, summertime will be a different story. I think some interesting things will happen with me and her. No worries though….you’ll be the first one to know if we do end up getting together. I’ll be back in Utah to meet up with her on the 25th. We shall see what happens….oooh la la…..

Hmmm…..so what else has been going on. Oh…okay….my body is falling apart. I’m an old man. I’m usually a really healthy guy. I exercise. I eat well. I usually get the rest I need. But recently….i’m realizing that my body is crumbling apart. While my parents were in town last week…we ate so much! My body isn’t used to eating at restaurants all the time and eating, eating and eating. Then during these last couple days…I’ve been eating junk food like crazy (sugar & candy) so that I could stay awake late at night to get my school work done. All that combined with not much exercise (due to bodyhype performances and then crazy school work) means a sick stomach and a weak body. And indeed…i’ve been weak. Also a couple days ago my heart was aching. Too much food inside my system. Too much junk. I’m pretty sure that my arteries are one steak away from being completely clogged…..sad I know.
Also with my crumbling body….my left knee. Something is wrong with it. And it’s scaring me. I usually run a couple miles everyday…but i’m afraid that my knee won’t let me run this week. It started hurting my on Saturday (before bodyhype) and has been hurting me since. I can’t extend it all the way out…and I can’t bend it very well. It sucks to be injured. It really, really, really does. It’s a big fat suck-a-roosky!
So yeah. My body is falling apart. How sad…i’m only in my early twenties.
K. Time to end this blog entry. I’m gonna go do some business work…..watch some NBA playoffs…..then go to bed. I’m waking up early to meet a buddy at Ivy for breakfast. Peace out gangstas.

So today was pretty sweet. I woke up pretty early…then headed up to NYC to chill with my Broadcast Journalism homedoggz. My Broadcast Journalism professor is a producer with NBC and she brought us up today to get the “special tour” of NBC studios at the Rockafeller Center and also to talk to some top people there. It was alot of fun! I really enjoyed it.
We got to talk to alot of different people….ranging from producers, editors, directors graphic designer, anchors, reporters, etc. We visited alot of my professor’s buddies…and learned more about what they do and how they do it. We also got to hear a “Story Pitch” idea from a couple hooligans. NBC (and other broadcast networks and many cable networks) are always being pitched on new ideas for stories and shows from people and companies. There were two guys, European by sounds of their accents, who wanted to use us as a “focus group” and sell us on the idea…yah know….just to “practice” for when they would REALLY have to do it in front of the NBC execs. They pitched their idea. It was an idea for a Reality TV show. The show would be called “Last Minute Salvation.” The idea involved going to a certain crisis around the world, and fixing the problem with a team. The team leader would be a “celebrity.” The “crisis” could be something like a natural disaster that occurred, an epidemic, famine, etc. And of course…it involves alot more details than this. Bottom line: The idea is okay. But I don’t think NBC is gonna take the gamble to take it. It doesn’t have enough of the “wow” factor to get picked up by a big network like NBC. That’s my take on it at least.
So we also met Brian Williams, anchor for NBC nightly news. Also we talked briefly with Stone Philips, the dude on Dateline. It was fun. We of course got to play around in the studio of NBC Nightly News, Dateline, Conan O’Brian, and SNL. Those were fun too.
Chillin’ in NYC for lunch. I had just gotten off the train….a little sleepy….not much sleep last night.
The “control room.” This is where it all happens. Today was actually SUPER busy at NBC because of all the immigration demonstrations around the nation. It got alot of coverage. It was crazy. People were runnin’ around all over the place around here….

Time to sleep. Tomorrow is my birthday. But really it’s just gonna be another day. I don’t like hoopla. I get uncomfortable and awkward. I’m gonna treat it as just another day. A day to get school work done. A day to get business done. A day to work out at the gym. A day to be good. A day to smile. Just another day. Simple as that.

Biggest Surprise of the day: NBC is really ugly inside. Of course, the studios and sections that they show on the “official tour” are really nice. But for the most part it’s just a really crappy building…wires everywhere….worn down….ugly. But nonetheless, I loved it.
Biggest nerds of the day: Rachman, Timon, Chelsea, Tiff, & Amira. The piece is gonna be fresh.

My real blog for today is the one below this one, about the living Prophet. This is just a “by the way” blog.
By the way…for the most part my academic dilemmas have been resolved. Today was a great day. I got alot done.
Here’s a quick summary:
10:50am: Slept in today. I was super tired. Hopped out of bed…took the fastest shower of my life…and prepared for Peter to visit.
11:00am: Met with Peter about certain church responsibilities. He’s a fellow church member and leader.
11:30am: Finished my Portuguese paper (kinda).
12:30pm: Grabbed a quick lunch. Went to Portuguese class. Told some jokes to soften the professor’s heart. It worked.
1:30pm: Went and spoke with my SOC 391 Professor about taking the midterm. He was frazzled trying to get his lecture notes ready for class…but seemed positive about the idea of me being able to take the midterm another time. He told me not to go to class cuz they would be discussing the midterm. Fine with me.
1:45pm: Ran over to the library. Found the darn history book I was looking for in the Library. Spent a couple hours skimming over it to get the main idea.
4:45pm: Went to Gym, ran a few miles and worked out a little.
6:00pm: Ate dinner with Dale and other buddies from Church at Dale’s house (he’s a graduate student in the physics dept).
7:40pm: Worked on my History Paper.
9:00pm: Watched “Lost.” Worked on History paper during commercials.
10:00pm: Worked on History Paper. Submitted it online at midnight.
12:00am: Studied, responded to emails, wrote my blog, and did other odds and ends.
2:00am: Read my scriptures, prayer, get ready for bed.
3:00am: IN BED SLEEPING!!!!

Message: Well. I’m off. I’m taking a red-eye flight back to Princeton tonight. Spring Break was fun. The BYU girls are hot. Catch you all later…
Location: Airport. Las Vegas, Nevada
Time: 10:37pm (local time). Sunday night.
Message: So now i’m just chillin’ to catch my next flight. Vegas Airport is weird. It’s so dark and dreary…it gives me the creeps. As soon as I got off the plane I could smell the smoke everywhere and hear the gambling machines. Ding ding ding. Blah blah blah. I’m 21…I was almost tempted to pull down a few slots….but then I remembered that the Prophet said not to. Boo yah. Follow the prophet and you’ll never be lead astray. Next stop: Pittsburg.
Oh yeah…and my dad just sent me an email. This is what it said: “The George Mason coach shared this quote after their great victory today over UCONN. He shared it with his team before the game. Message: I actually slept really well in the plane. Yummers. There was this big woman sitting next to me (I had the window). She was basically snoozing all up in my hugs. She was trying to cuddle with me or something. I accepted…haha. Check it, ain’t nothing wrong with some red-eye-flight cuddling miles above the ground. I promise I didn’t lower my standards. Her rolls kept me warm….
Now i’m chilling in the airport with my laptop messin’ around. I love it how so many airports have free WiFi connections. Some don’t. Some do. But all the airports i’ve passed through today (yesterday) have free access. Bonus.
So I just finished some McDonalds. I’m telling you what….McDonalds has the best fast food breakfast on the face of the planet. And if you try arguing with that one…well….then you’re just straight up CRAZY! Don’t mess with Ronald McDonald. Those McGriddles are breathtaking. Next stop: Newark.

So I basically danced the night away. It was so much fun. I don’t know why I enjoy it so much….but I do. I enjoy it. I love it. It’s kinda weird.
So anyway that’s basically all I did tonight. I danced around….alot. The night started off pretty late (10:00) just cuz we were watching some NCAA b-ball. And I must mention…before watching b-ball we had a delicious family dinner. My mom is the world’s best cook. I’m telling you folks….it’s gourmet. Every day is a new adventure, a new taste. And wow it’s delicious.
Anyway, so Brad (my older bro), Shane, and Elise (some of Brad’s buddies) joined Joe and I for a night full of dancing. We hit up the Hip Hop dance at the KMB on BYU first. It was a fundraising event for the Rugby team. That was pretty cool. I was in my element there…feeling the rhythm….feeling the beat.
It bugs me how so often times people at dances all congregate so close together in one area when the room/hall has so much more room to spread out a liittle bit. They all get so jam packed and tight that you can’t even move to dance. To me it’s gay to bunch up all in one spot to the point where you can’t even move/dance. So our crew spent most of our time dancing on the outskirts of the big pack. Those fools in the middle don’t even dance. None of it really makes sense to me but the bottom line is….the dancers need room to dance. So we made sure we had room to bust our moves on the sides. It’s weird how guys don’t normally dance. I’m pretty sure we were some of the only dudes dancing. It was fun. We owned.
After awhile there we decided to hit a couple more parties. We got to one party and it was in the basement of an unfinished house. It was pretty cool. We didn’t stick around there too long…though I did meet one really cute British girl there. She’s friends with a girl that i’m already pretty good friends with. Hopefully she’ll be around in the summer. We’ll see. Anyway, the party was alright…good dj, food, etc. Then we left and headed over to another party at someone’s apartment. Parties always have themes…the theme of this one was “white trash.” We danced around a little bit there and then headed out.
By then Brad, Shane and Elise were tired….they went home. Joe and I continued our search for the perfect beat.
So we hit up Cafe del Sol….a Mexican Restuarant that brings in a DJ every Friday night and basically turns into a Latin Dancing club. We hit that for a couple hours and it was a blast. I was shakin’ my latin booty from side to side…and it was fun. By then I gotta admit…I was super, super tired. I met some interesting girls there. One in particular grabbed my attention, but she didn’t have much “direction” in her life so I didn’t really pursue. She’s American but was living in Columbia because her dad’s an FBI agent and was working there. She’s really cute and everything. But not focused enough.
So by then it was around 2:00. Joe and I were hungry. We stopped at the Golden Arches and grabbed a quick burger. Then we went home.
It was a night full of dancing indeed. I’m a dancing maniac. And I love it.
Other than the night full of dancing, my day was an overall good day. I ate lunch with JP at the Wilk. I went to the Temple with my fam. That was awesome. I went and visited a few buddies at their places. I visited the “Nacho Queen” but when I got there she was in the shower. But I left her a surprise…and I think she enjoyed it.
Also, if you read the blog from yesterday you’ll know about “Lexus.” Yeah. I went and visited her today. She wasn’t there. But I left a cool poem on her whiteboard along with a “present”…hopefully she gives me a call back tomorrow. We’ll see. She has a boyfriend. I’m not interested romantically, I just think it’d be cool to be her friend and get to know her better.
Tomorrow i’m going on a date with the Nacho Queen. I gotta admit i’m really excited about it. I gotta put on my thinking cap and start thinking of some creative activities we can do. Creativity is noble. I love to do things creatively….things are more interesting that way.

Another day gone by for Spring Break. How sad. My days in Utah are coming to end…how sad. As much as I enjoy Princeton….I like “home” better. But hey….life goes on. I will need to return to the everyday vigors of life on Monday.
Today I slept in. And boy did it feel good. Wow. How refreshing…for the most part I spent my entire Spring Break waking up early to make sure I have productive days and get alot done….but I decided it was time to relax a little…and so today I took that needed sleeping break. I slept alot.
Then I spent a ridiculous amount of time working on the computer today with various projects i’m doing. Roughly 8-9 hours…..on and off. It was crazy. I worked alot on my website….putting up new pictures and updating alot of info. I corrected alot of the errors and also i added a section, “my music.” That’s where i’ll be putting my rap music. I’m gonna have alot of fun with that. I’m excited.
Then at around 11:00 I kinda went on a date with a girl that I met yesterday. She’s really sweet. We didn’t really have much time so we just went to Denny’s and had some fun there. It was great. I really wish I would have met her earlier in the week so I could get to know her better…but that’s life. And in the summer she won’t be around here….that makes things tougher.
Plans for tomorrow:
+ Wake up EARLY to work on daddypix stuff. Business Plan is due next week.
+ Meet JP for lunch at the Wilk at noon.
+ Go to temple with Fam (i’m really excited for this).
+ Find out where Lex lives and visit her.
+ Watch some NCAA B-ball.
+ Perhaps some Latin dancing.
+ Go on a date at night. Perhaps with Ms. Baker.
+ Get a Big Gulp at 7-11.
+ Smile. Have fun.
My dad sent me a cool email today. This is what it says:

Dang geeena….so I’m just gone for a couple hours…it’s a sunday….and look how many emails I get: 27. The crazy thing is that none of it’s junk mail. Oh dear…I have a gazillion things to do.
Anyway…sorry I haven’t written in a couple days….things have been quite busy. I’ve been spending alot of time with my family and buddies and usually I get home pretty late at night. But i’ll try to catch things up in this blog.
Friday – March 17, 2006
I woke up early and got alot of work done. When I say work…I mean projects that people hired me to do in either web design/graphic design, photography, etc. Things have been going really well as far as work goes, actually.
So at around noon Scott Ady and I went over to the Wilkinson Center on BYU campus. We joined up with Taylor Seibold and Joe Pututau and we had a delicious lunch. At lunch I saw a few old friends from the high school days like TG Wesley, RJ, Steph G, and a few others. TJ balled it up with me in hs. He’s a stud…married. Anyway, after lunch me and the boys decided we wanted to meet some girls. Going up to random girls can be awkward at times…especially for the girls as they are approached by some stranger who tries some cheesy pick up line. So what we did is grabbed a bunch of flyers (from people passing out flyers for an event) and started going around passing out flyers to people. But make no mistake about it…we’d give the flyers to the people we wanted to meet…in other words….the hotties. Superficial I know…but that’s all we could judge by in those circumstances. So we went around meeting a bunch of new girls passing out flyers for some random event. That went well actually…..we met some cuties.
So then we noticed TONS of Japanese girls looking around….looking quite lost. We saw that one of the girls was sobbing and the rest of the girls were consoling her. She was very upset/sad about something. So we decided that we were gonna cheer her up. Joe and I are pretty crazy. We love to make people smile/happy….even if it’s sometimes embarrassing. So we went over to these Japanese visitors (college students) and started talking to them. We told them we wanted to make the sad girl happy…and that we were gonna do a dance for her to accomplish that task. Joe and I got in front….gave eachother a nod of affirmation…..and started to do the Harlem Shake. They all laughed. Even the sad girl. I looked over at Joe and noticed that he was laughing too….he hadn’t done it with me. Lil’ punk left me to do it all alone….in front of all those people at the Wilk (center of campus where tons of people go through). Anyway…I convinced Joe to finally do it with me and we did it together….causing them all to clap and laugh. We saw the sad girl crack a smile…..and it all ended well. We then helped them find where they were looking for…and it ended up to be just an awesome experience…..cheering up the sad one. Haha….it was great fun!
After that as we were strolling out of the Wilk we ran into the missionaries. What a small world. And they were Japanese speaking missionaries. I don’t believe in coincidences. So we told them about the huge group of Japanese visitors and that they (the missionaries) should go find them and speak with them. We gave them the info on where the Japanese were….and the missionaries hurried off. Booo yah! I hope all those Japanese visitors learn more about the gospel! Sweet sweet sweet….
Later that night I hit up a St. Patties day party with Tara and her roomies. Then we went over to JP and Taylor’s football game. It was FREEEEEEEZZZING! We didn’t last long. After that we went back to BYU campus to attend “Friday Night Live.” It was a huge event with all sorts of different dances, games, comedy groups, food, etc. That was fun. We spent most of our time dancing in the Hip Hop area. We busted out our moves on the dance floor as usual. That was fun fun fun!
We met some girls at the dance and we invited them over to my house to chill with us. Four girls. The boys were Taylor, JP, Scott and I. We went home and played some card games. We had decided earlier that it was going to be boys against girls….and that loser had to give the other gender back massages. We were down with the idea. Sounded cool to us. So we did it….we played cards…and the boys won. The girls were completely better at the game…but we finagled our way into victory lane. The girls were so upset about it that they didn’t fulfill their obligations. We didn’t receive our reward. They said we cheated and that it wasn’t fair….blah blah blah. It was all fun and games at the end but the bottom line is that they didn’t give us the deserved massages. Ouch.
Saturday – March 18, 2006
Woke up early. Worked some more on my projects and work that i’m doing. I got into an interesting discussion with my parents too. I’m actually making relatively “good” money these days from all the things i’m doing. And i’m pretty much putting it all in the bank and saving it and investing. I really don’t usually spend money unless it’s on business ventures (which is fine because that’s an investment) or dates. So all my money is being saved. I told my parents that I was gonna go buy a sweet new 60gb Video Ipod. My parents thought it was a bad idea. We got into an interesting discussion…about finance and saving. I completely agreed with what they had to say. So I decided to hold off a little bit on the Ipod. I will definitely get one…but not yet. My parents are really good savers. They don’t waste money on anything. They are very frugal. And that’s good. It’s a characteristic I really need to acquire. Save save save. People with wealth know how to save. Differred gratification. Self-control. Being frugal.
A few hours later I found a cartoon taped on the toilet seat in my bathroom. Haha….I thought to myself how odd. So I read it and realized that it was just my parents trying to really get the principle into my head on what we had talked about earlier. Save, save and save some more. Here’s the cartoon. It’s simple. But definitely has truth to it.
So anyway in the afternoon we all went up to SLC for the second round of the NCAA’s. That was fun. Two awesome games. BC and Gonzaga came out on top. On the way up to the game in the car it was really interesting to hear my father speak with Brad (my oldest bro) and Syd (his friend and business partner). They talked about business ventures and investments that they are involved with. It really fascinates me. I can’t wait to get more involved with some of the bigger investments like with what they’re doing. They talked about some crazy big money real estate investments they’re getting involved with in Hawaii and all sorts ot stuff. I can’t wait for when I can roll with the big dogs like them…..word.
After the basketball games I got home and Joe, Scott and I went line dancing for alittle bit. We didn’t see that many too cute girls there and we couldn’t find Jessica (one of my buddies who said she was gonna be there) so then we hit up some Salsa dancing at BYU. That was fun. There were tons of people there and we had lots of fun shakin’ our booties latin style. We met some more girls and ended up going to Cold Stone with them after. That was fun.
Sunday – March 19, 2006
I woke up early. Scott and I went to church with my brother. Here in Utah there are so many members of the LDS church that there are alot of different locations to meet. People are assigned to go to a specific location if they live within a specific geographical boundary. So Scott and I went to my brother’s “ward.” A ward is what the congregation within that specific boundary is called. So we went and had a great time at church. Around BYU there are wards that are just for young single adults. So it’s great because it’s also a good place to meet wonderful young ladies…..ooooh la la.
Anyway, later in the day we had our usual family dinner. Some of my cousins and relatives came over. it’s always good to see them. And btw, my mother is such a good cook!
After that Scott and I went over to Taylor’s. From there we went over to another house and had “Ward prayer.” Met some more cute ladies. After that we went over to Tiffany’s house. Someone we had met on Friday. Taylor, Joe, Scott and I went over there. She had told us that she was gonna have a bunch of girls there that we could meet. She was right. She had about 15 girls there just to meet us…it was crazy. There were only 4 of us. It was fun though….they had brownies and other goodies…and we just chilled with them in their apartment for awhile. I was shocked at how many girls she had arranged to be there though…..haha….how interesting I guess.
After that we went to visit some more girls at their apartment (you have to remember…these are all BYU students….they all live pretty close to eachother in apartments, houses, etc just south of campus). We spent a couple hours there just chilling. They were really nice. Actually pretty cute too. I got their numbers and i’ll definitely be spending more time with them later in the week.
And now i’m home. Writing this blog. It’s hard to recap three days because there is so much. Since there is so much I can’t get too specific on anything….though I definitely have some really cool stories to tell. If I stay on top of updating my blog hopefully i’ll be able to get more specific on certain adventures that take place. There are so many cool little experiences, jokes, and pranks that go on that I really should tell. And I will start telling more and more. But today it’s hard just cuz I had to recap so much. Oh well….
Anyway…this week is gonna be intense. I have alot of work to do and alot of FUN to have with buddies. It’s Spring Break. It’s all about having fun. Yipeeeeeh! Word to your mother, gangsta.
